Reserva Nacional Lago Rosselot is a national reserve in Aysén. The reserve encompasses the small town of La Junta and borders Parque Nacional Queulat to the south. Despite a lack of infrastructure, accessing the reserve is easy: from La Junta take highway X-12 west, following Río Palena as it snakes its way toward the Pacific Ocean. Originally a national park, Reserva Nacional Lago Rosselot was reclassified as a national reserve in 1983.  Keep an eye out for pumas (in the eastern parts of the reserve) and pudús.

Trekking is prevalent near the reserve's namesake, Lago Rosselot, east of La Junta. A trailhead can be found on across from the Don Fede campground, on the east side of the Carretera Austral. There are some great views at the top of the steep mountains. Keep an eye out for the bright red blossoms of ciruelillos, aka the Chilean firetree, a favorite plant for local colibrí (hummingbirds).
