Villa Mañihuales is a village in central Aysén and the closest settlement to El Toqui, a Belgian-owned zinc-gold mine that commenced operations in 1983. Many miners call Villa Mañihuales home. The village sits at the confluence of Ríos Nireguao and Mañiguales, north of Reserva Nacional Mañihuales and less than 100 km north of the regional hub of Coyhaique.
The town is often referred to simply as Mañihuales (and sometimes spelled with a 'g' rather than an 'h'). It is common for vehicles to refuel here and use the town as a pitstop before continuing south to Coyhaique.
