Villa Cerro Castillo is a village in south-central Aysén and a base camp for exploration of Reserva Nacional Cerro Castillo. The jagged peaks of Cerro Castillo and the surrounding cordillera loom above the village, whose population features a mixture of local gauchos and visiting mountain-climbers. At ~350 meters above sea-level, the village is at the highest elevation of any city/town on the Carretera Austral and the Bicycle Patagonia Tour.
*Not to be confused with Cerro Castillo, a village in Magallanes the Chile/Argentina border east of Parque Nacional Torres del Paine.
